Radiohead: Motion Picture House

Bringing KID A MNESIA into Physical Space, from a Coachella Bunker to a Global Tour

“Amazing… [the] film is incredible and moving.” ~ Consequence
“Downright sensational. Translating that aesthetic into physical space without puncturing its enigma takes a certain finesse.” ~ Artnet
“Formidable… entrancing and trippy, hypnotic.” ~ ARTnews

KID A MNESIA was first released in 2021 as a digital exhibition on the Epic Games Store and PlayStation 5, directed by Sean Evans. It was always meant to be experienced in a physical space, but the pandemic made that impossible at the time. Motion Picture House realizes that original intention.

At its center is a 75-minute film built from the paintings, drawings, and notebooks Thom Yorke and Stanley Donwood made during the recording of Kid A and Amnesiac, with a soundtrack remixed with Nigel Godrich from the original multitracks for custom 6-point surround. Visitors watch the film in a purpose-built theater, then move through galleries of Yorke and Donwood's original works at full scale. The project began in a game engine and became a film, and the spatial audio, the LED, and the architecture are there to serve the art, not compete with it.

The installation premiered in April 2026 in a 17,000 sq. ft. bunker built from scratch beneath the Empire Polo Fields at Coachella. From there, we turned it into a touring production: a single kit that adapts to each venue, opening at the Brooklyn Navy Yard and La Maravilla Studios in Mexico City. Next stop: the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, January 2027.

The results: both runs were extended by demand (Brooklyn from 4 to 9+ weeks, Mexico City from 3 to nearly 9).

My job was to turn a film into a place, and a place into a tour. I led Motion Picture House alongside Radiohead's team and [namethemachine] from early development through each city, positioning it as a film and the house built for it, not an immersive experience, and treating the artwork as new work, not an archive. I developed the business and touring model behind a single kit that moves city to city, built partnerships with AEG Presents and Fever, shaped the guest experience from gallery writing and signage to fair, reseller-proof ticketing, and managed communications across press, platforms, and partners. The result: two runs extended by demand.
